Columbiana - Robert (Bob) C. Williams, 92, of Columbiana, joined the Lord on August 24, 2018. Bob was welcomed into heaven by his loving wife, Thelma, and son, Kenneth.
Bob was born October 12, 1925 in McKeesport, PA. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in metallurgical engineering. Bob worked for Battelle Research Institute and later served as Executive Vice President for the Columbiana Foundry Company for over 30 years. During his career, Bob received several patents pertaining to foundry technology.
Bob served our country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Force. During his service, he trained to be a pilot.
Bob loved to fish for walleye on Lake Erie and anything that would bite in one of the lakes near Columbiana. He taught his grandchildren how to fish, the thrill of chasing the one that got away, and how to gently paddle a canoe to not disturb the fish that may be hiding below.
He was a great storyteller, an excellent Monopoly player, and a very entertaining co-director of Camp Williams. He also was an outstanding ballroom dancer who enjoyed dancing with his wife, Thelma.
Bob was predeceased in death by his wife, Thelma Williams, who passed away in 2010, and his son, Kenneth Williams.
Bob is survived by four children, Lynn Wallace of Mendenhall, MS, Dale Williams of Columbiana, Keith (Sylvia) Williams of Medina, and Scott (Linda) Williams of Rome, NY; eight grandchildren, Lance (Melissa) Hamilton, Trina Brown, Stephanie Williams, Christine (Christopher) Millen, Nicole “Bonnie Thunders” Williams, Rob (Trisha) Williams, Lauren Williams, and Adam Williams; nine great-grandchildren, Shaynna (Colin) Gaskin, Alex (Molly) Hamilton, Crystal (Jared) Seals, Ray Brown, Jasmine Williams, Autumn Harmon, Henry Williams, Samantha Millen, and Beau Williams; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Prayers will begin Thursday, August 30, at 10:30 am at Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Columbiana with Father Thomas Zeigler officiating.
Family and friends may pay their respects Wednesday, August 29 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home.
Burial will take place at Columbiana Cemetery.
