Lawrence G. Hancox

New Waterford-September 19, 2010-Lawrence G. Hancox, 68, of New Waterford, died suddenly Sunday morning at his home.

Larry was born September 2, 1942 in Youngstown, a son of Lawrence and Doris Bjork Hancox and had lived in this area all of his life. Larry worked for General Motors in Lordstown for 32 years retiring in 2000. He also served in the US Army and enjoyed his membership in the New Waterford Eagles Aerie #2415 FOE. Other hobbies included cooking, playing euchre, his tractors and most importantly spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, the former Karen S. Knight, whom he married December 22, 1984; a daughter, Candy Coffey of North Lima; a son, Ryan Hancox of East Palestine; a sister, Karen (Leroy) Flenner of East Palestine; a brother, Timothy (Marcia) Hancox of New Waterford; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Pastor Bill Bruehl officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
