Columbiana-James Charles “Chuck” Norman, 84, passed away Friday evening, January 4, 2019 at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center in New Middletown.
Mr. Norman was born June 2, 1934 in Youngstown, a son of the late James and Margaret Mason Norman. He was a 1952 graduate of East Palestine High School and received his bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Tri State University, Angola, IN. He worked in Santa Monica, CA and Columbus, OH before returning to this area.
Chuck retired as a mechanical engineer from Reichard Industries. He was a member of the East Palestine Lodge #417 F&AM. He was an avid golfer and had been active with harness racing with his father and son Chuck. He loved Cleveland sports and was a big Ohio State Buckeye fan.
He is survived by his wife, the former Beverly Jane Barrett, whom he married July 1, 1988; two daughters, Deborah (Bob) VanArsdale of Struthers, and Lauri Nolan of Columbiana; four sons, Chuck (Carlene) Norman, Jr. of Hope, RI, Edward Nolan of Warren, Sean Nolan of Columbiana and Daniel Nolan of Columbus; two sisters, Susan Noel and Daralee (Wayne) Graham of East Palestine; a brother-in-law, Richard Gates of New Waterford; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
A sister, Margaret Ann Gates and a brother in law, Raymond Noel preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday June 2, 2019 at Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Pastor Mark McTrustry officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Sunday, at the funeral home.
Interment will take place privately in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
