Jack L. Guy, Sr.

Columbiana – Jack L. Guy, Sr. 91, of Columbiana, died peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2024, at his home.

Mr. Guy was born on July 20, 1932, in Rogers, OH, a son of the late Clarence and Olive McMahan Guy and had lived in this area all his life.  He was a 1950 graduate of Columbiana High School and served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Jack was President and owner of Oaks Welding, a charter member of St. Jude Roman Catholic Church and was active in the Knights of Columbus. He had been a member of the former Columbiana Jaycees and was a member and past commander of Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion, a member and past commander of York Drexler Post #5532 VFW, Washingtonville and a member of 40 & 8 Voiture Post 273 where he was past Chef de Gare. He was active for many years in the Columbiana Chamber of Commerce, especially the 4th of July Fireworks and the Christmas Parade.  He was a past president and active member of the Columbiana Rotary Club where he worked with the Flag Committee, the Foster Children’s Picnic and the Rose Sale.

He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with his friends and spending time at the cabin at Pymatuning Lake.  Jack was an avid Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavs sports fan, as well as OSU and Columbiana Sports Teams.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Geri (Rob) Rubicky of Columbiana, his three sons, Jeffery (Jeanette) Guy of Greenford, Randy (Kim) Guy of Columbiana, and Jack (Amber) Guy, Jr. of Columbiana; his grandchildren, Daniel, David, Michael, Jason, and Jonathon Guy, Justina Stryffeler, Jared Channell, Kristen Snyder, Cory Guy, Greg and Mark Fitzsimmons, Stacie Perez, Tyler and Ryan Guy; and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death in 1962 by his first wife, Estella (Toni) Staab Guy; and in 2019 by his second wife, Maribelle Barr Guy; a son, Greg Guy; a brother, Frank Galbreath; and a sister, Monna Yassemi.

Jack will be remembered as a cherished father, grandfather, friend, a hard worker, a patriot, and a pillar to his community. His stories, wisdom, and the presence of his company will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, with Father Chad Johnson officiating. The burial will take place at the Columbiana Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the Columbiana Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana and at the church one hour prior to the services on Thursday.

Memorial donations may be made to the Columbiana Stadium Restoration Fund or the Columbiana 40 & 8. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
