Lisbon-Heinz Willie Tunnat, 87, of Lisbon, formerly of Washingtonville, passed away at 9:25 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, at his home.
Mr. Tunnat was born September 9, 1928 in Washingtonville, a son of Wilhelm and Emma Theophil Tunnat and had lived in this area all of his life.
He had been employed as machinist for NRM in Columbiana, retiring in 1992 and had served in the U.S. Army.
He was a life member of the Joe Williams Post #131 of the American Legion, Leetonia and the York Drexler Post #5532 VFW. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Leetonia. Heinz enjoyed spending several winters in Florida and will be remembered for his ornery ways, his special smile, and his generous heart.
He is survived by his wife, the former, Shirley M. Grindle, whom he married April 14, 1956; a daughter, Cynthia (Joseph) Csonka of Lisbon; a sister, Irmgard Altomare of Columbiana; a brother, Walter (Mary Kay) Tunnat of Franklin Square; a grandson, Anthony (Jen) Altomare and a great granddaughter, Emma Jane Altomare.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Suliot and a brother, Freedie Tunnat.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Washingtonville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
