Salem - November 8, 2007 - Harold E. Alexander, 95, of 13871 Washingtonville Road, died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday at the Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana.

Mr. Alexander was born October 12, 1912 in Teegarden, a son of Charles W. and Katherine Smith Alexander and was raised on the family farm in Gavers. He served in the US Navy in WW II in the South Pacific. He had been employed as a pipe fitter for Columbia Gas for 40 years, retiring in 1977. Prior to that, he had worked at the Cope & Weingart Farms in Leetonia. After his retirement, he worked at Less Farms, Kentzel Farms, and Kurtz Farms.

He was a member of the Robbins United Methodist Church of Washingtonville where he had been a Sunday School Teacher and had served as a Boy Scout Master in Greenford.

He is survived by his wife, the former Mary K. O'Dell whom he married June 12, 1937; a daughter, Donna J. Minehart of Columbiana; two sons, Harold E. Alexander, Jr. of Alliance and Kenneth J. Alexander of Salem; a sister, Loretta Everett of Sebring; a step brother, Donald Alexander of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, May Laughlin and Genevieve King and four brothers, Dr. Thurman Alexander, Charles Alexander, Jr., Clarence Alexander, and Paul Alexander.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, with Pastor Cheryl Vanatsky officiating. Burial will follow in Washingtonville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Robbins United Methodist Church.
