I was just able to make myself search to see how Doc was , I was her pt for many years and had the honor of white water rafting with her on occasion. My heart is broken to see that she is gone . I guess I was hiding from this fact not really wanting to know. Beautiful inside and out , my prayers to all who mourn her.

I am sorry for your loss, God never intended for us to die but because of adams sin we inherited death but god has promised us that he will get rid of death and suffering from the earth ( Revelation 21 : 4 ) Also you will be able to see your loved ones again. ( John 5 : 28,29 ) I hope that this comforts you at this hard time.

Dear Barb's Family, My husband and I so sorry to hear of the loss of Dr. Barb this week. As an RN, I chose Barb to be my physician when she started her practice and recommended her to my husband. We both felt she was the most compassionate and intelligent physician. Whether in her office or in the hospital she always had time to listen and share with her patients. She is greatly missed. May she rest in peace with all the saints and angels in Heaven.

Barb has been our dear close friend for 28 years. Neighbors in both Liberty and Columbiana. We were fixtures in each others homes. Barb was our Doctor too. She guided my husband through his battle with cancer, took brilliant care of my parents after they moved from the east coast to the area. Barb was our loving friend. We shared walks, dinners, boat rides, rescuing the animals that became our treasured pets and had fun with all the varieties. She was a dedicated Doctor and a loving wife. She was an angel to her family and many friends. To our minds a finer women never blessed this earth. We pray for her husband and her family. She was well loved.

My dad, Dr. Frank Kocab gave me great advice in the 1980's he said go to Dr. Barbara Modic she is one of the best Physician's around. I had been a patient since she opened her practice after Dr. Hyland died. I had an appointment with her the last week that she retired. I never knew that I would never see her again! I am glad that I got to see her that last week! I had gone to her for about 26 years! Half of my life! She always knew how to answer my many questions and fix my medical problems. Then we always had our chats about life in general. We always ended our appointments that way! She was very knowledgeable and reassuring that it would be okay! She never let me down. I will miss her greatly! My deepest sympathy goes out to her husband and family! A very good woman touched all of our lives. Marian Burks

Dear Family of Dr. Barb, My deepest sympathy to you on the passing of one of the nicest human beings on the earth. Dr. Barb was physician to both my sister, Nancy, and our Mom, Helen Gromada. In 2009, when my sister faced a life-threatening illness, Dr. Barb left her busy practice on a Friday afternoon and was in the ER with Nancy. She had known Nancy, an RN at St. E's since her Residency. But she would have done that for any patient. And in 2012, when it became obvious that our Mother could no longer live at Nancy's, we ask Dr. Barb to tell Mom that she needed more care and had to move to assisted living. With tact and firmness, Dr. Barb did that. Mom accepted her word, since Dr. Barb had forged a strong bond with Mom over the years, often relating things that her own Mom did or said during their visits. That's the kind of doctor and woman she was. Heaven is richer with her presence. God Bless you now and in the months and years ahead, and thank you for sharing Dr. Barb with us.

She was an excellent physician-soft spoken, intelligent, with a great bedside manner. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, and we are all a little better for having known her.

After getting to know Barb through our investment club, I asked if she would be my doctor. She blessed me over and over again as she compassionately cared for me as her patient. Words can not express my condolences to her husband and family. I worked at SEHC for 47 years before retiring . Dr. Modic and I would talk a lot about travels and other things. She knew how much I wanted to go to New Mexico to see the Balloon Fiesta. In 2002 one day after returning from her trip to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta she came up to me and said." Linda I have a DVD for you of my trip to New Mexico, You will not know any of the people but I have pictures of the balloons, I thought you would like it." I was thrilled. I will cherish the DVD for I never made it to New Mexico. It shows how thoughtful and caring she was. She was a wonderful person and excellent physician. May God bless her family and may she rest in peace.
