Harrisville, PA - Denver J. "Denny" Black, 67, of 330 Hovis Road, formerly of East Palestine, died Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the Grove City Medical Center, Grove City, PA.
Mr. Black was born July 24, 1943 in Unity, OH, a son of the late Denver L. and Virginia Call Black. He, along with his wife, owned and operated the Folkway Festival in Clinton Township, Venango County, PA for over 16 years. Prior to that he had worked as a supervisor for Republic Steel in Mingo Junction, Chicago Tool Co. in Franklin, PA, and Cooper-Energy in Grove City, PA.
Mr. Black was a former member of the Clintonville Lions Club, Clintonville, PA and the Moose and V.E.T.S. clubs of Franklin, PA. He loved music, playing the guitar, and especially grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his wife, the former Joyce L. Justice, whom he married January 13, 1963; two sons, Raymond E. Black of Casa Grande, AZ and Brett A. Black of Chandler, AZ; two sisters, Linda (Don) Kacenski of Columbiana and Dolly (James) Hill of East Palestine; and six grandchildren, Samantha, Katie Nicole, Robert J., Josie E., Rebecca T., and Riggs M. Black.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Black and a sister, Shirley Rupert.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Larry Paxson officiating. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department.
