East Palestine - January 12, 2007 - Zora M. Brown, age 82, of 419 E. Grant Street, died at 3:55 p.m. Friday at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Youngstown.

Mrs. Brown was born February 11, 1924 in East Palestine, a daughter of Paul F. and Mamie F. Hawkins Grim, Sr. and had lived in this area all of her life.

Zora was a homemaker as well as a bus driver for the East Palestine School District. She had also worked for the former Valu King in East Palestine. She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church where she was active with the bereavement support group, the Wesley Wed Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women's Group. She was also a driver for Meals on Wheels in East Palestine.

Her first husband, Raymond Mollenkopf, Jr., whom she married March 22, 1942 died April 25, 1976. Her second husband, Jack E. Brown, Sr., whom she married August 17, 1980 died August 11, 1993.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Sue) Clapsadle of East Palestine, a step-daughter, Mrs. James (Bonnie) Culp of Columbiana; a son, Gary Mollenkopf of San Diego, CA; two step sons, Jack E. (Mary Jane) Brown Jr. of Akron and Richard A. (Temple) Brown of Lebanon; three sisters, Helen Grim of East Palestine, Zoe Safreed of Massillon, and Mrs. Paul (Iva) Monte of Negley; a brother Paul F. (Elsie) Grim, Jr. of New Middletown; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Guela Marchak, Beulah Sutherin, Ila Fay Widdowfield and Hazel Brockman and two brothers, Flavel H. Grim and Robert O. Grim.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Centenary United Methodist Church with the Reverend Don W. Kraps, of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine and one hour prior to the services Monday at the church.

Material tributes may be made to the East Palestine Fire Department, East Palestine Meals on Wheels, or the church memorial fund.
