Zoe E. Safreed

Massillon - Zoe E. Safreed, 90, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at Chapel Hill Community, Canal Fulton.

Mrs. Safreed was born August 7, 1922, in East Palestine, a daughter of the late Paul F. and Mamie Fay (Hawkins) Grim. She had lived in the Massillon area since 1941, coming from East Palestine, OH.

Mrs. Safreed worked for the W.S. George Pottery and as a waitress for Dave's Restaurant & Hotel in East Palestine. She also worked for the O'Neil's department store in Massillon. Zoe was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Massillon, where she was active in the Martha Circle, The Wedding Ring Class, and Wednesday Bible Study.

Her husband, Harry C. Safreed, whom she married May 10, 1941, died March 28, 1993.

She is survived by a son, Randy Safreed, of Lawrenceville, GA; and two sisters, Helen Grim, of East Palestine, and Iva (Paul) Monte, of Negley.

A son, Richard Safreed, preceded her in death, March 15, 1983. Her sisters, Guela Marchak, Beulah Sutherin, Zora Brown, Hazel Brockman, and Ila Fay Widowfield; and her brothers, Robert Grim, Flavel Grim, and Paul F. Grim, also preceded her in death.

Friends will be received from 5-8 PM Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, OH. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark McTrusty officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery, East Palestine.
