Columbiana - May 19, 2005 - William H. Yoder, 83 years old, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2005 at the Parkside Health Care Center.
Mr. Yoder was born October 8, 1921 in Youngstown, a son of Noah and Florence Hendricks Yoder. Mr. Yoder graduated from North Lima High School and earned a B. A. Degree from Goshen College, Goshen, IN. He spent three years under the Mennonite Central Committee in India and Indonesia from 1946-1949. In the early 1950's he worked at the Citizens Savings Bank in Columbiana and was instrumental in establishing the First State Bank in North Lima where he was executive vice president. In 1962, he was an agent for New England Mutual Life Insurance Company and later became vice president of Robert E. Froom and Associates Inc. He was also clerk/treasurer of Beaver Township, Mahoning County for 34 years. He was active in the North Lima Mennonite Church where he served as treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School teacher.
He leaves his wife, Elaine Snider Yoder, whom he married October 21, 1950; a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Patricia) Edwards of Kosovo; two sons, W. Thomas (Michele) Yoder of New Springfield and Timothy H. Yoder of Columbiana; five grandchildren, Allison (Edwards) Thompson, Melinda Edwards, and Aaron, Courtney, and Joshua Yoder; and a brother, Gordon Yoder of Goshen, Indiana.
There was a private burial service on May 27, 2005 in the North Lima Mennonite Church Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the North Lima Mennonite Church with Pastor Robert Wengerd officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of North Lima Mennonite Church or to the Mennonite Central Committee, Akron, PA Arrangements were made by the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home, Columbiana.
