William Richard Watters

Columbiana March 2, 2007 -William Richard Watters, age 89, formerly of East Woodland Avenue died at 3:40 p.m. Friday in the Parkside Health Care Center.

He was born July 18, 1917 in Pittsburgh PA, son of William Clarence and Elizabeth Stevens Watters.

Mr. Watters had lived in Columbiana for 87 years coming from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

Retiring in 1982, he had been a Riveter for the Harold Tool Company for 42 years.

Bill was a member of the former Grace United Church of Christ, and is a member of the Highway Tabernacle; the Canfield Lodge #155 IOOF and was a member of the former Pandora Lodge #410 at Columbiana. He attended the Kiski Prep School at Saltsburg PA.

Bill joined the Army in June before WW II serving in the Army Air Force during WW II.

His first wife, Dorothy Elizabeth Thayer whom he married April 30, 1949 died November 27, 1991 and his second wife, the former Iva Raupach whom he married May 7, 1994, died June 24, 2003.

Surviving is a cousin, Robert Segesman of Columbiana; two step sons, Rick Raupach of Cleveland and Gene Raupach of Canfield; a niece, Sandy Dixson of Butler PA.

The Rev. John Brownsberger will officiate at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

The Honor Guard of Benjamin Firestone Post # 290 of the American Legion will render military honors.
