Washingtonville December 6, 2008 - William K. Tullis, 82, of 100 Maple Street, passed away at 2:10 p.m. Saturday at his home with his entire family at his side.
Bill was born April 1, 1926 in Lisbon, a son of Carl and Isabella McAndrews Tullis and had resided in Washingtonville most of his life. He served in the US Army during WW II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.
He had been employed at Deming-Crane Corporation in Salem for 42 years, retiring in 1988. He was a life member of Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion in Leetonia where he had served as an officer for many years. He was also a member of York Drexler Post #5532 VFW of Washingtonville, Salem Amvets Post 45 of Salem, and Eagles Aerie #1496 of Leetonia.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, the former Joan E. Longbottom, whom he married August 28, 1948; two daughters, Billie (Dick) Sekely of Salem and Stacy (Jim) Kegelmyer of Washingtonville; a son, Ky (Jenita) Tullis of Washingtonville; a sister, Mary Lou Schuck of Salem; a brother, Richard Tullis of Salem; seven grandchildren, Erica (Freddie) Gray, Jamie and Tyler Kegelmyer, Maddie and Sydney Sekely, and Tanner and Kylie Tullis; and a great granddaughter, Payton Reese Gray.
A brother, Carl Tullis is deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, with Pastor Cheryl Vanatsky officiating. Salem Amvets/Salem VFW Honor Guard will provide military honors. Burial will be in Washingtonville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Valley.
