William Snyder

Columbiana, January 11, 2004, William Snyder, age 89, of 1229 Columbiana-Lisbon Road, died at 1:04 p.m. Sunday at the Parkside Health Care Center.

Mr. Snyder was born June 2, 1914 in Leetonia, a son of Charles and Katherine Lare Snyder and had lived in Columbiana since 1986, coming from Leetonia. He had been employed as a maintenance man at LTV Steel in Youngstown for several years. He had also owned and operated Snyder Paving for many years. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Columbiana.

His first wife, Hazel Snyder, whom he married May 17, 1938 died April 20, 1984.

He is survived by his wife, the former Gayle Paxson Sell, whom he married November 18, 1984; three daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Judith) Smith and Mrs. Dennis (Linda) Kimble, both of Columbiana, and Mrs. Paul (Victoria) Leach of Salem; two sons, William Snyder and Jack Snyder, both of Columbiana; two step daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Laurel) Gordon of Dayton and Mrs. Carl (Donnamarie) Safreed, Jr. of Canton; a step son, Mark Sell Paxson of Phoenixville, PA; 20 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Six sisters, Josephine Hill, Elizabeth (Bessie) Fink, Agusta (Gussie) Miller, Martha Sell, Ruth Snyder, and Mary Provins Smith and six brothers, Mahlon, Leon, Charles, Francis, Orville, and Kenneth Snyder are also deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home, Columbiana with Deacon Terry L. Coulter officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Leetonia. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday.
