Columbiana-William P. Rowan, 74, of Columbiana, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, May 27, 2016, at Akron General Medical Center.
Mr. Rowan was born August 9, 1941 in Salem, a son of the late James D. and Mildred M. Phillips Rowan and had lived in this area all of his life.
Bill was a teacher, first in Lisbon at McKinley School and then taught for 24 years at South Side School in Columbiana. He was a member of Beavercreek Sportsman's Club in Washingtonville. He loved fishing, boating, taking his Dodge Rampage truck to car shows and enjoying the companionship of his best friend, Dawg.
He is survived by his wife, the former Susan Austin, whom he married August 3, 1968; his daughter, Mary Rowan of Youngstown; his son, Brian (Pam) Rowan of Columbus; four grandchildren, Quinn Gaca, Gabriel Rowan, Grady Rowan and Teagan Rowan; and a brother, James (Kil Sun) Rowan of Harvest, AL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with the Reverend Thomas Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30- 11:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home.
As in life, Bill gave in death with his gift to Life Banc. Material tributes in memory of Bill may be made to Life Banc or the Columbiana County Humane Society.
