William P. Jones, age 82, of 98 Elm Street, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home following a long illness.

Mr. Jones was born November 28, 1921 in Elm Grove, PA, a son of Melvin and Lucretia Reese Jones and had lived in this area most of his life.

He had served in the US Army Air Corps during WW II. He was an upholsterer and owned and operated William Jones Upholstery in Leetonia for 25 years. He had also worked at the former Franklin Furniture of Columbiana.

He was a Lutheran by faith and was a member of Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion. He was a past president of the Leetonia Ruritan Club and had also served on the Leetonia Board of Education.

He is survived by his wife, the former Rosalyn Perry, whom he married December 31, 1947; a daughter, Mrs. Terry (Suzanne) Kornbau of Salem; two sons, Melvyn (Debbie) Jones of Brecksville, OH and Douglas (Becky) Jones of Leetonia; eight grandchildren, Mrs. Jeff (Julie) Cecil, Mrs. Keith (Laura) Menough, Paul Jones, Jessica Jones, Sarah Jones, Katie Jones, Emily Jones, and Gina Jones; and one great grandchild, Grant Menough.

Two sisters, Bertha Jones and Dorothy Wilson and two brothers, Leroy Jones and Lloyd Jones are deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, with the Reverend Jim Gaston officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Friday.

Material tributes may take the form of a donation to either the Trinity Lutheran Church, Washingtonville or the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Association.
