William Garrett

Leetonia – William Garrett, 71, of 403 Somer Street, died at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana.

Bill was born August 10, 1943 in Uniontown, PA, a son of the late James and Catherine Minehart Garrett and was a graduate of Columbiana High School. He attended the Salem Trade School and had been employed as an assembler at the former Franklin Furniture, E. W. Bliss Company, and currently at Butech Bliss of Salem.

He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Leetonia Ruritan Club. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees for Oakdale Cemetery, Leetonia where he was currently serving as president. An avid woodworker, he also enjoyed making furniture and other wood articles.

He is survived by his wife, the former Penny Lou Cross, whom he married June 22, 1963; a son, David (Kristina) Garrett of Rapid City, SD; a daughter, Candie (Troy) DeRhodes of East Palestine; and five grandchildren, Katherine, Gracie, and Sam Garrett and Nathan and Garrett DeRhodes.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2015 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday and at the church one hour prior to the services on Monday.
