Leetonia, OH-April 7, 2004-William Taylor Fitch went to be with the Lord on April 7, 2004. He was born May 4, 1930, a son of Andy and Julia Hickman Fitch in Manton, Kentucky.
He moved to Ohio in 1952 and had resided in Leetonia since 1968. Bill, as most people in Leetonia knew him, was an avid gardener and worked, through the years, at Eljer Co., Summitville Tile, Sterling Co. and after retiring from the Columbiana Foundry in 1992 he worked as a janitor and handy man for Specialty Fabricating in Leetonia.
Bill touched many lives. He was a Sunday School teacher and coached baseball for many years. He was lifetime member of the Washingtonville Sportsman Club. Bill loved to travel with his wife and special traveling companions, sister-in-law, Sue Pitts and his niece, Danette Pitts. They fulfilled a longtime dream of his by traveling to Hawaii three years ago.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Gertrude and a brother Milton.
He is survived by his wife, Zadie Ratliff Fitch, whom he married on July 2, 1955 in Pikeville, KY. He is also survived by two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Pauline) Anderson of Washingtonville and Mrs. Thomas (Teresa) Leskosky of Leetonia; a son, Richard (Monica) Fitch of Columbiana; seven grandchildren, Mrs. Chad (Amy Anderson) Witherstine, Timothy, Jennifer and Stephen Anderson, Joseph and Kyle Leskosky and Richie Fitch. He leaves five brothers, Rush of Columbiana, Jess of Salem, John of New York, Gordon of Kentucky, and Virgil of South Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Bill (Rose) Blackburn of Salem and Opal Fitch of Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews. Bill will be sadly missed but family and friends will rejoice in the fact that today, he is walking the streets of glory with our Lord.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with Doug Simpson, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens, Rogers. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday at the funeral home.
