William Lester Burrell

New Springfield- William Lester Burrell, age 86, of New Springfield, died on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Salem Community Hospital.

He was born on July 31, 1927 in Murphy, NC, a son of the late James David and Florence Ethel Brown Burrell.

William was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He is a member of Harvest Church, New Springfield and retired from Republic Steel where he had worked as a conductor.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Dodson Burrell, whom he married on February 1, 1969; two sons, John Burrell of Youngstown and James George Burrell of Struthers; a brother, James Burrell of Struthers; a sister, Kathrine Heaverin of Charlotte, NC and his mother in-law, Evelyn Dodson of Columbiana. Also surviving are five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

William was preceded in death by two sons, Andrew and Joey Burrell; a daughter, Leslie K. McCutcheon; one brother, Leo Burrell, and three sisters, Bonnie King, Ileen Burrell and Annie Ruth Burrell.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11AM at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Pastor Richard Meredith will be officiating.

Burial will be in the Columbiana Cemetery at a later date.
