Washingtonville, OH-May 27, 2012-Our beloved father, Wilfred "Freedie" Tunnat, 87, passed away at 5: 40 pm Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Salem Community Hospital with his daughters by his side. He was a very loving and caring man to all and will be sadly missed.

Freedie was born April 4, 1925 in Germany, a son of Wilhelm and Emma Tiafeld Tunnat. He came to America at the age of 2 and became a US Citizen at the age of 23.

Freedie was a machinist for the NRM in Columbiana for 39 years retiring in 1992.

Freedie also owned and operated Freedie's Tavern (which later became the Bison Bar) and Freedie's Lounge in Washingtonville.

In his younger years he so enjoyed his yearly fishing trips to Canada and hunting with his friends.

He is survived by his daughters, Joyce Conn of Lisbon and Wendy (Mark) Greschaw of Washingtonville; a sister Erma Altomare of Columbiana; two brothers Walter (Mary Kay) Tunnat of Franklin Square and Heinz (Shirley) Tunnat of Salem; two stepchildren Susie Collingwood and Duane Culler; three grandchildren, Michelle (Jim) Clark, Steven (Alicia) Conn and Sarah Sines; two great-grandchildren, James Clark and Ivy Fish; step grandchildren, Heidi (Mike) Warren, Jeannie Greschaw, Candice (Joe) Young, Jonathan Greschaw, Sean Gibson, Rikki Collingwood and Angie Collingwood; step great grandchildren, Kyla and Michael Warren, Joey, Cadence and Paige Young and Savina Greschaw; and fourteen nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Edith Suliot.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Friends may call from 3-5:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
