Sebring-January 30, 2009-Wilda L. Bevan, 90, formerly of Columbiana died at 4:50 p.m. Friday at the Salem Community Hospital. She had resided at Copeland Oaks since 2005.
Mrs. Bevan was born May 8, 1918 in Brookville, PA, a daughter of R. John and Eva Reed Steele and had lived in Columbiana since 1938 coming from Jewett, OH.
Wilda was a telephone operator for Ohio Bell in Jewett, OH and Columbiana. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana and Columbiana Chapter #428 Order of the Eastern Star where she was a past worthy matron.
She is survived by her husband, David R. Bevan, whom she married June 7, 1942; two daughters, Bettie (Kirby) Fisher of Dexter, MI and Eva (Lloyd) Ellis of Solon; a son, David (Patricia) Bevan of Blacksburg, VA; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Viola Steele and Jane Cavanaugh and two brothers, Merle and John Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana with the Reverend Scott Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Eastern Star services will be held by Columbiana Chapter at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
