Wayne D. Zimmerman

Columbiana-Wayne D. Zimmerman, 86, died at 7:20 am, Sunday, June 16, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Zimmerman was born February 25, 1927 in East Palestine, a son of Warren and Grace Westover Zimmerman and had lived in this area all of his life.

Wayne was a machinist for NRM in Columbiana for 37 years retiring in 1989. He was Methodist by faith. Wayne served in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of the Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion in Leetonia.

He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Kiliany, whom he married June 4, 1955; three sisters, Betty (George) Boston of Washingtonville, Nora (Dick) Hussar of Salem and Lena Tingle of Leetonia; two brothers, Ralph (Eleanor) Zimmerman of Washingtonville and Leroy (Rita) Zimmerman of Boulder, CO; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and one great great nephew.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Woods.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Reverend Dr. Robert C. Joy officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Columbiana American Legion Honor Guard. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Tuesday and from 10-11 am Wednesday at the funeral home.
