Walter Edmund DeVeau of Columbiana, OH passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2005. Born June 1, 1923 in Stamford, CT., he was the son of Frederick L. DeVeau and Anna L. (Rudolph) DeVeau. He graduated from Stamford High School, class of 1941. He was a Veteran of WWII, 340th BG, 487th BS, North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Corsica, Berlin Airlift 1948 to 1950, Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He retired from the USAF as a Master Sergeant in 1964. He served as a dispatcher with the Ohio State University Police Dept. from 1964 to 1984. He was a member of the Columbiana American Legion, Post 290, and the 57th Bomb Wing Association.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Bernice I. (McAdow) DeVeau, brother Frederick R. DeVeau, sisters Hilda Sabito, Rose D. Bell, and Henrietta Day.
He is survived by his son, Conrad F. DeVeau and daughter-in-law Linda DeVeau of Las Vegas, NV daughter Angelika Lemont and son-in-law Harold Lemont of Hudsonville, MI and very best friends John and Patricia Ivan of Leetonia, OH, six grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Friends may call at Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home, 28 North Main Street in Columbiana, OH on Friday, July 22nd from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.
Family has requested cremation. Burial will be in Broadway Cemetery, Broadway, OH at a later date.
