Columbiana – W. Virgil Clark, 86, of Columbiana, died at 4:25 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Salem Regional Medical Center.
Virgil was born November 1, 1927 in East Liverpool, the son of the late Charles L. and Laura R. Chamberlain Clark and had lived in the area since 2008 coming from North Highlands, CA.
He had served in the US Navy on the USS Chicago as a CSGSN during WW II. He had been employed as a shipper/receiver for the Cold Strip Plant of Colt Industries in Midland, PA, retiring in 1992.
His wife, the former, Edith B. Wills, died April 6, 2014.
He is survived by two daughters, Ruth Ann (William) Kesti of Granite Bay, CA and Lita (Michael) Himes of Columbiana; two sons, Bruce W. (Carol) Clark of Elk Grove, CA and Charles L. Clark of North Highlands, CA; a sister, Joyce Gamble of Calcutta; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Jess A. Clark, a sister, Shirley Sevey; and a brother, Keith L. Clark.
Services will be held at 12 Noon Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Columbiana County Memorial Park Cemetery, Calcutta where the Tri-State Honor Guard will accord military honors. There are no calling hours. Arrangements were made by the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
