Negley, OH-Virginia Louise Dickey Norton, 91, a lifelong resident of Negley, died at 9:45 pm Saturday, March 15, 2013, at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, East Palestine following a brief illness.
She was born March 10, 1922, a daughter of William and Inez (Young) Dickey.
Virginia was a homemaker and member of Negley United Methodist Church where she was active with the Ladies Combined Class. She was a former member of Order of Eastern Star in Negley, the Negley Fireman's Ladies Auxiliary and Dames of Malta in East Palestine.
She is survived by her son, William Norton of Mississippi; two daughters, Shirl (Rich) Rollins of Bellevue, Nebraska and Sandy (Bob) Ellis of East Palestine; daughters-in-law, Janice Glover of Rogers and Sara (Mickey) Rogers of New Canaan, Connecticut; a brother, Don "Peewee" Dickey of Negley; fifteen grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Norton, a son, Gary Norton, son-in-law Harold (Butch) Huff, brothers Edward and Arnold Dickey, Don (Gilbert) Young and Robert Lawrence and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Negley United Methodist Church with Pastor Kathy L. Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 pm Friday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
Contributions in memory of Virginia may be made to Negley United Methodist Church, Negley Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of the donor's choice.
