Columbiana - Virginia "Ginny" Detwiler, age 99, of Columbiana, died on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Aventura at Assumption Village, North Lima.
She was born on January 30, 1925, in Naples, NY, daughter of the late Myrle Prouty and Bernice Hall Prouty Grimes.
Ginny was a graduate of Wolcott High School in New York, and she attended the Rochester Business School where she obtained her Associate degree. She had worked as a medical secretary for Dr. William Jones and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Columbiana. Ginny enjoyed golfing, playing cards and reading.
Her husband, Donald Lee Detwiler, whom she married on December 20, 1945, preceded her in death on, March 20, 1977.
Virginia is survived by her four children, Ronald (Marilou) Detwiler of Columbiana, Rick (Janet) Detwiler of Boardman, Debbie (Nova) Detwiler of Tallmadge and Diane (Clint) Hardenbrook of Columbiana; two sisters, Janice Poff of Newark, DE and Judy (Ron) Wilhelm of Salem; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
Services will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 12:00 pm at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating.
Burial will take place at Columbiana Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 290 Poppy Fund, 44403 St Rt 14, Columbiana, OH 44408
The family would like to thank the staff at Aventura at Assumption Village and Sanctuary Hospice for their compassionate care of Ginny.
