Washingtonville - July 23, 2008 - Virginia Mae Davis, 79, of 260 Union Street died at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Salem. She had recently resided at Whispering Pines Village in Columbiana.
Mrs. Davis was born September 13, 1928 in Washingtonville, a daughter of Harry S. and Alice Stouffer Wilkinson and had lived in the area all of her life.
She was a member of the Robbins United Methodist Church of Washingtonville where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and was active in many church activities. She had also served as the secretary of the Washingtonville Cemetery Association for many years.
She had been employed as a librarian at the Washingtonville School for over ten years and then worked at the Columbiana County Office on Aging for 15 years, retiring in 2004.
She was preceded in death May 13, 1987 by her husband, John F. Davis whom she married October 19, 1946. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Louis (Diane) Raneri of Columbiana and Mrs. Andrew (Jackie) McFarlane of Salem; two sons, John F. (Janet) Davis, Jr. of Leetonia and Dale L. Davis of Washingtonville; a brother, Warren Wilkinson of Columbiana; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a great grandson, Logan Jones; a sister, Betty Hinten; and a brother, Ralph Wilkinson.
Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with Pastor Cheryl Vanatsky officiating. Burial will follow in the Washingtonville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
