Salem - Virginia (Dillon) Crook, called Ginny by her family and friends, passed away at the age of 93 on New Year's Day in Salem. She was a simple, godly, faithful, loving, contented, generous, and hard working woman. She found joy in her daily Bible reading and prayer, visits with family and friends, the song of a wren, working the daily crossword puzzle, sharing a good apple, going on excursions with her sisters, seeing a beautiful rose, sitting outside on a warm day, reading a good book, doing housework, and watching the antics of a child. Her unfailing love for her family reached to each new generation. Her generosity abounded whenever she saw a need. She was a precious gift to us.
Virginia graduated from God's Bible School in Cincinnati and was a member of East Fairfield United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Crook, her son, Thomas Crook, three brothers, John, Ernest, and Robert Dillon, and two sisters, Elizabeth Glenn, and Harriett Criss. Those left to cherish the memories and love that she left behind are her two sisters, Mrs. Mary Shroades and Mrs. Ona Strudthoff; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy (Roger) Herman, and Mrs. Nina (Randy) Colian; six grandchildren, Mr. Jon (Kim) Herman, Mrs. Becky (John) Willis, Mrs. Sarah (Andy) Schmidt, Mrs. Hannah (John) McFarland, Molly Colian, and Scott Colian; 8 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
A service will be held at East Fairfield United Methodist Church at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, with time for friends and family to call from 10:00am-noon at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Crook Memorial at East Fairfield United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements were made by the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana. Sign the register and send condolences at www.familycareservices.com
