East Palestine-December 9, 2008-Virginia Britton, 91, of 5386 Jimtown Road, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Vista Center in Lisbon.

Mrs. Britton was born September 2, 1917 in Beaver, PA a daughter of Paul and Catherine Macik Taucher and had lived in this area all of her life.

Virginia was a lathe operator for the former Electrical Refractories in East Palestine for many years retiring in 1979. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in East Palestine.

Her husband, Paul E. Britton, whom she married June 27, 1935 died February 4, 1987.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Ratkovich and Linda (Carl) Barnett both of East Palestine; a son, Larry Britton of Selinsgrove, PA; three sisters, Christine Kochevar, Jennie Jurjavcic and Dorothy Thompson all of East Palestine; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Ulbrich, Frances Hull, Helen Gibson and Catherine Ellingworth and three brothers, Joseph, Stanley and William Taucher.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Mr. Robert Helbeck officiating. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.
