East Palestine-October 21, 2010-Virginia Mae Baker, 81, died at 11:43 a.m. Thursday at Salem Community Hospital.
Virginia was born June 6, 1929 in New Waterford, the daughter of the late Raymond G. and Tirzah L. Hawkins Baker.
Virginia had worked as a cook at the former Mary Jane Truck Stop in Unity and prior to that she had worked as a butcher and clerk at Spaite's Market in East Palestine. Virginia attended the senior activity program at the Salem Memorial Building for many years.
She is survived by a son, Robert J. (Ravonne) Baker of East Palestine; a granddaughter, Heather M. Baker of East Palestine; three step grandchildren, Steven Cable of East Palestine, Jessica Satterfield of Wichita Falls, TX and Jessica Crowl of East Palestine; a niece, Wonda (John) Kummer of Columbiana; and a nephew, David (Christine) Noel of East Palestine.
A sister, Helen I. Noel and an infant brother, Noble M. Baker preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2010, at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Phillip L. McIntosh, Minister officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
