East Palestine - March 13, 2005 - Viola Marie Selby, 82, of 530 North Sumner Street, died at 6:50 a.m. Sunday at the Salem Community Hospital.

Mrs. Selby was born January 28, 1923 in New Waterford, a daughter of the late William and Elva Davidson Lipp and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a 1941 graduate of the former New Waterford High School and had been employed as a stock clerk at the J. C. Penney Company in Southern Park Mall for nine years, retiring in 1983.

She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, the Dorcas Class of the church and the East Palestine Legion Auxiliary.

Her husband, Leonard Selby, whom she married June 29, 1941 died September 18, 1974.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dean (Bonnie) Huff of Leetonia; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Smith of Salem and Mrs. Erma Huston of East Palestine; two grandchildren, Dean Leonard (Patricia) Huff and Scott Thomas (Melissa) Huff; and three great grandchildren, Samantha A. Huff, Forrest J. Shaw, and Grace E. Huff.

A son, Leonard Selby, a sister, Virginia Dicken, and a brother, Jesse Lipp are also deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine, with the Reverend Ron Spore officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
