Leetonia February 15, 2005 -Vida Kelm, age 86, of 4099 Lisbon Road died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Pleasant View Nursing Home, where she had been a patient for 3 1/2 years.

Vida was a very special mother and will be sadly missed by all. She was born March 30, 1918 in Salem, daughter of Elmer and Ella Whipensinger Swindell and had lived in the Leetonia area all of her life.

Mrs. Kelm had been was a cook for Leetonia Exempted Schools for 13 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church of Leetonia, a 50 Year Member Mt. Nebo Grange and a former member Our Community Club.

Her husband, Carl F. Kelm, whom she married March 19, 1937, preceded her in death June 26, 1990.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Carol) Earl and Mrs. Judith Leonard, both of Leetonia; two sons, Kenneth Kelm, Donald Kelm both of Leetonia; two half sisters, Mrs. Clara Slagle of Greenford and Mrs. Bernita Price of Columbiana, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, as well as, several step grandchildren

A son H. Robert Kelm, a daughter Ella Mae Smith, a grandchild Donald Leonard as well as, her twin sister, Ida Nichols (1968), preceded her in death.

Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Friends may call 11-1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
