Columbiana - Victoria Elsie Detwiler, 85, of 4525 Renkenberger Road, died at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Essex of Salem, II.
Mrs. Detwiler was born November 20, 1925 in St. Petersburg, FL a daughter of Victor E. and Elsie McMullen Cone Lowe and was a descendent of the pioneer McMullen family who settled in Largo and Pinellias County, FL.
Victoria and her husband owned and operated a farm market. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Columbiana.
Her husband, Maurice "Bud" Henry Detwiler, whom she married October 27, 1946 died January 7, 1993.
She is survived by two daughters, Diana (DeJay Claypoole) Greier of Canfield and Carol (Victor) Apinis of Salem; three sons, Jerry (Donna) Detwiler of North Lima, Thomas (Nina) Detwiler of Boardman, and Samuel (Monica) Detwiler of Columbiana; a brother, James (Marie) Lowe of Florida; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Dimpfl and a grandson, Shane Detwiler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church, Columbiana with Reverend Paula Archdeacon officiating. Burial will follow in Midway Mennonite Cemetery, Columbiana.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2011, at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana and one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church.
The family would like to thank the staff and care givers at Essex of Salem, II for their kind and compassionate care of Victoria.
Memorial tributes may take the form of a donation to the First United Methodist Church of Columbiana.
