North Lima, December 3, 2005 -Vernon Leroy Unger, age 87, formerly of Market Street died at 3:00 a.m. Saturday in the Pleasantview Nursing Home in Lisbon.

He was born June 7, 1918 in North Lima, son of Opeth and Maude Arkwright Unger and had lived in North Lima all of his life.

He had been employed at Plaza Lumber and Peoples Lumber in Youngstown.

He served in the Army with Headquarters Company of the 602nd Tank Destroyer Battalion in the Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe campaigns during WW II.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Norma Goterba of Columbiana; two brothers, Edwin Columbiana and Dwight of Gallipolis.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell

There will be no calling hours. Private services will be held for his family.

Burial will be in the Columbiana Cemetery.
