Verla E. Caldwell

Columbiana - December 28, 2008 - Verla E. Caldwell, 87, of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Columbiana, died Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Sunny Vista Living Center, Colorado Springs.

Mrs. Caldwell was born November 26, 1921 in Leetonia, a daughter of the late Harry and Zella Peppel Holloway and had lived in Colorado since 2002, coming from Columbiana.

She had been employed as a registered nurse at St. Luke's Hospital, Cleveland and later at the Salem Community Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leetonia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Caldwell; a sister, Twila Zimmerman; and a brother, Ewing Holloway.

She is survived by two daughters, Jayne Goetz of College Station, TX and June E. Caldwell of Colorado Springs, CO; a son, Richard Caldwell of Hoffman Estates, IL; a brother, Wayne "Pete" Holloway of Leetonia; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Friday.
