Verda Cook

Columbiana March 24, 2005 -Verda Cook, age 81, of 2002 Timberline Drive formerly of 10121 Washingtonville Road Canfield Ohio, died at 7:53 p.m. Thursday in the Salem Community Hospital.

She was born June 8, 1923 in Salem, daughter of Clyde R. and Mabel Lorain Williams Dickey.

She had lived in the area all her lifetime.

Mrs. Cook had been a housewife and was Methodist by faith. She participated in the Salem Area Scampers and the Chit-Chat Card Club. She also was a 4-H advisor for the Calla Lilies and the Greenford Busy Bees for 25 years.

Mrs. Cook taught Sunday School at Locust Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Walter J. Cook whom she married June 8, 1945; two daughters, Mrs. Robert L. (Wendy) Bush of Columbiana, Mrs. Glenn (Les) (Debie) Wiff of North Lima; 2 sisters Mrs. Jack (Helen) Steitz of Columbiana, Mrs. Betty Percy of New Waterford, and a step sister Mrs. Richard (Bertha Mae) Stephens of Columbiana; and two grandchildren Christopher and Jason Wiff.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home with the Reverend Van Camp Chiles officiating. Burial will follow in the East Carmel Cemetery.

Friends may call 5-8 Sunday and 1 hr. prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
