East Palestine - May 20, 2006 - Timothy M. Evans, 49, of 290 Riggs Drive, died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Youngstown.
Mr. Evans was born February 10, 1957 in Ellwood City, PA, a son of Theodore G. and Geraldine Young Evans and had lived in this area all of his life.
He had owned and operated T. Evans Excavating, Inc. for the past 23 years. Prior to that, he had been employed at Roshel Industries, East Palestine as a tube mill operator. He had served in the US Army as an MP in Korea. Tim was a 4th degree Black Belt in Karate and was an active volunteer in many community and civic groups in East Palestine and New Waterford. He was an avid motorcycle drag racer.
His father, Theodore Evans preceded him in death.
Besides his mother of East Palestine, he is survived by his wife, the former Bonnie Riggs, whom he married July 11, 1981; a daughter, Candi L. Evans of East Palestine; two sons, John M. (Chris Pavuk) Evans of New Waterford and Chris Evans of East Palestine; two sisters, Mrs. Larry (Sandy) Wales and Mrs. Denny (Patty) Sugar, both of East Palestine; two brothers, Ted (Donna) Evans of Stow and Tom (Melody) Evans of East Palestine; a grandson, Caden Evans; several nieces and nephews and his best friend, Rick Gorby of East Palestine.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine, with Mr. Robert Helbeck, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens, Rogers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Because Tim donated so much to the community, the family asks that material tributes take the form of a donation to a local civic organization such as Meals on Wheels or Social Concerns.
