Thomas W. Mock

Columbiana - Thomas W. Mock, Jr., 75, of Columbiana, died on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.

Tom was born on February 6, 1940 in Jeannette, PA, a son of the late Thomas and Florence Helwig Mock and had lived in Rogers and later in Columbiana, coming to Ohio in 1965 from Jeannette.

He graduated from Penn Joint High School in 1958. He had been a self-employed semi-truck driver from 1967-1990. Tom worked for B.P. driving a tanker truck from 1990 until he retired in 2002, and during his time there he received the truck driver safety award of the year. He then worked part time as a driver for Witmer's Feed and Grain and also Gold Cross Limousine.

Tom was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Columbiana where had served as an usher and greeter. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus of Columbiana. He had also served as Mayor of Rogers. He also coached little league baseball and served as an advisor for Boy Scouts.

Tom is reunited with his wife of 55 years, the former Dolores Peperato, whom he married on May 20, 1959. She died July 12, 2014.

He is survived by a daughter, Terri (Tim) Birnesser of Columbiana; a son, Thomas M. Mock of Nashville, TN; a sister, Jean Sistek of Greensburg, PA; three grandchildren, Timothy (Amanda) Birnesser of East Palestine, Eric (Sarah) Birnesser of Parma and Aubrie (Keith) Drewnoski of Leetonia; and three great grandchildren, Georgianna, Sophia and Zoey.

He was also preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Columbiana, with the Reverend Christopher Cicero officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana from 3-7 p.m. on Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
