Leetonia July 15, 2005 -Thomas Patrick Kiliany, age 81, of 231 Elm Street died at 3:20 p.m. Friday in the University Hospital in Cleveland, where he had been a patient for 5 days.
He was born December 5, 1923 in Salem, son of John and Anna Dupal Kiliany and had lived in Leetonia all of his life.
He had been a Welder for Oaks Welding in Columbiana for more than 40 years.
Mr. Kiliany was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, an Usher and festival booth chairman for many years. He was a member of the Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion at Leetonia and the York Drexler Post #5532 Veterans of Foreign Wars at Washingtonville.
Hunting, fishing, gardening and photography were his hobbies.
He served with the Headquarters Company 45th Infantry Thunderbird Division, serving Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France and Central Europe Campaigns where he received 6 bronze stars and a bronze arrowhead.
The love of his life, Helen M. Davner whom he married October 21, 1950, preceded him in death January 29, 1992.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Cindy) Rodrick of Leetonia; a son, Jeffrey (Judy) Kiliany of Leetonia; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Dudick of Leetonia, Mrs. Wayne (Dorothy) Zimmerman of Columbiana and Mrs. Ralph (Eleanor) Zimmerman of Washingtonville; a brother, Joseph Kiliany of Leetonia and five grandchildren.
His sister, Louise Briggs also preceded him death.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Woods-Rettig Funeral Home.
