Thomas J. Cantwell, Jr

East Palestine-February 21, 2009-Thomas J. Cantwell, Jr., 85, of 49231 England Drive, died at 7:10 p.m. Saturday at Sterling House in Salem.

Mr. Cantwell was born February 17, 1924 in Glenmoor a son of Thomas J. and Edna M. Reagle Cantwell, Sr. and had lived in this area all of his life.

Tom was a crane operator for the former Babcock and Wilcox in Koppel, Pa for 43 years retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #467, East Palestine and was an avid golfer. He served in the US Navy during World War II.

His wife, the former Mary Alice Carr, whom he married January 15, 1944 died June 5, 1997.

He is survived by three daughters, Constance Duritsa of Cortland, Patricia Coblentz of East Palestine and Dr. Cindy Cantwell of Bismarck, ND; two sons, Terry (Barbara) Cantwell of East Palestine and Thomas J. (Rita) Cantwell III of Leetonia; a sister, Betty Berger of Austintown; seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Irene Neil, Kay Cantwell and Virginia Ash and four brothers, Paul, Jerry, William and Kenneth Cantwell.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the First Church of Christ, East Palestine with Mr. Robert Helbeck, Minister officiating. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
