Thelma L. Apinis

Columbiana - Thelma L. Apinis, age 86, of Columbiana, died on Monday, July 13, 2015, at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Salem.

She was born on May 11, 1929 in Clarkson, a daughter of the late Sylvester and Jane McCoy Dyke.

Thelma was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church, Salem and had worked as a school bus driver for Columbiana Schools.
Her husband, Voldemars “Wally” Apinis, whom she married June 24, 1963 died March 9, 2008.

Thelma is survived by two sons, Edwin Apinis of Columbiana and Victor (Carol) Apinis of Salem; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by six sisters, Zelda Gaston, Helen Keslar, Ola Russell, Marge Kurtz, Zelma Russell and Irma Dyke; and a brother, Glenn Dyke.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana. Burial will follow at the Columbiana Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
