Stuart P. Tulk, age 74 of Columbiana, died on Friday, July 4, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at his home.
He was born on October 16, 1939 in Camden, NJ, the son of the late Eleanor Teed Tulk Wiser and Irving A. Tulk.
He served in US NAVY, retiring after 20 years in 1976. He received his dolphins and was an electrical instructor for nuclear submarines and served on several subs during his career. He received an Associate Degree from Kent State and his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from Dyke College in 1993. After the Navy, he was employed with Kasier and CEI in the Nuclear Power Industry for 20 years. While employed at CEI, Stu became a member of the International Management Council and served as Lake County Chapter President.
His 3rd retirement was from Home Depot in 2009 after 10 years of service. Stu especially enjoyed boating and Grand River Yacht Club and served as Commodore 2004.
He was a member of American Legion Post 290 in Columbiana, Ohio and served in the Honor Guard. He was a member of The Allen Masonic Lodge 276, and his last position was Junior Warden.
He was a wood worker and photographer and had a passion for teaching.
Stuart is survived by his wife of 41 years, Suzanne C. Tulk; sons, David P. Tulk; William C. (Sheryl) Tulk; Mark Scheller (Beth Altomare); daughters, Eileen (Chuck) Blowers; Laura Tulk Howell; grandchildren, Alyssa, Lillie and Hannah; Colin, Alexandra, Kasandra; Virginia; Jacob, Jordan, Jayden; sisters Marian Wheeler of Arkansas and Dorothy Thomas of Alabama as well as numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Tulk.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Contributions may be made in his name to the Shriners Children Hospital, 1645 West 8th Street in Erie PA, 16505 or The American Legion Scholarship Fund at Post 290 in Columbiana, Ohio 44408.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
