Columbiana - February 22, 2008 - Stephen Matasich, Jr., 85, formerly of Detwiler Road, died Friday at 5:20 a.m. at Essex III of Salem.
Mr. Matasich was born January 23, 1923 in Yugoslavia, a son of Stephen and Mary Horvatincic Matasich and lived in this area most of his life.
He was employed as a pipefitter at the former Youngstown Sheet and Tube for 38 years, retiring in 1979. He served in the US Army during WW II in Asia and the Pacific.
There are no immediate survivors.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana and burial will follow in Midway Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. on Monday.
