JAMESTOWN, NC - Stanley E. Yeager, age 98, has gone to live with Jesus. Born in Columbiana, Ohio on April 16, 1926, he was the son of Ralph W. and Bernice M Sailors Yeager. He attended Columbiana Grade School, Clarkson Grade School and graduated from New Waterford High School in 1944. He served for two years with the 75th Infantry Division in Europe during World War II, and was honorably discharged in January 1946. He married Dorothy Pike on September 28, 1946 and together they had three children. Dorothy, his wife of 73 years predeceased him in 2020. Surviving children are Nina L of Greensboro and Donald A (Gayle) of Greensboro, North Carolina, along with one grandson, John Gravely and great-grandchildren Kailyn Bowman and Logan Bowman of North Carolina. A son, Daniel Eugene, preceded him in death. Stan had one sister Lucille Yeager Fitzsimons who also preceded in death.
Stanley worked for The Franklin Furniture Company in Columbiana, Ohio for 38 years, serving as Vice President of Manufacturing. In February of 1984, Mr. Yeager became Vice President of the Selig Manufacturing Company of Siler City, NC, and later, with two other partners, he owned the plant until his retirement in 1990, having worked in furniture manufacturing for 45 years.
Stan was a long-time member of Grace Church in Columbiana, serving as Deacon, Elder and Sunday School Teacher as well as singing in the Choir. He is a present member of Muirs Chapel United Methodist Church of Greensboro, North Carolina. He has served on many men’s organization projects as well as being a Choir member.
He has been a member of Negley Lodge #565F and AM and is a Past Master with 74 as a member. Stan was a member of the Valley of Youngstown Scottish Rite, a lifetime member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars in Washingtonville, as well as a member of the National American Legion.
Mr. Yeager served two terms on the Columbiana Exempted Village Board of Education.
Mr. Yeager joined the Kiwanis Club of Columbiana in 1953 and held every office including Lt. Governor of the Division 19 of the Ohio District in 1981-72. Continued with Kiwanis in the Carolinas District, belonging to the Guilford College and the Northwest Guilford Kiwanis Clubs, serving in offices of both clubs and Lt. Governor of Division 8 of the Carolinas District in years 2003-04 and 2005-06. He started a club in Northwest Greensboro, where he is a member.
Mr. Yeager and his wife Dorothy were honored with the Presidential Award for Community Service having served for over one thousand hours, in the year 2004.

The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home , 28 North Main Street Columbiana, OH 44408. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
