Stanley Alfonse Mersol

North Lima November 5, 2004 -Stanley Alfonse Mersol, age 72, of 1505 West South Range Road, formerly of Sun Valley California, died at 1:30 a.m. Friday at his residence.

He was born Octtober 29, 1932 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, son of Dr. Valentin and Dr. Emily Tominsek Mersol.

Dr. Mersol held a PHD in Nuclear Physics, a PHD in Ceramics and a PHD in Linguistics and Anthropology and was a Professor at the University California at Irving.

He was a member of the St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana. Dr. Mersol belonged to many linguistics societies and specialized in native languages of the South West and Mexico. He was an accomplished figure skater and has won many awards.

He served in the Air Force 1958-1964 at Headquarters Wright Air Development Division

Two brothers, Dr. Valentin Mersol of Russell and Dr. Joseph Mersol of North Lima, survive him. A sister, Dr. Irene Sabbot, preceded him in death.

The Rev. Thomas Ziegler will celebrate a Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 13, in St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana.
