Shirley Ann Custer

New Waterford, OH-August 30, 2009-Shirley A. Custer, 83, of 46985 South State Street, died at 7:20 p.m. Sunday at Alliance City Hospital.

Mrs. Custer was born July 9, 1926 in Brownsville, PA, a daughter of William and Elsie Moslener Springer and had lived in this area all of her life.

Shirley was a bank teller for the former New Waterford Bank for ten years and a member of the New Waterford United Methodist Church. Her husband, Claude C. Custer, whom she married September 18, 1949, died March 13, 2000.

She is survived by her two sons, Claude (Alexandria) Custer, Jr. of Atwater and David (Barbara) Custer of Coshocton; a sister, Sylvia (Charles) Beatrice of East Palestine; a brother, Fred (Martha) Springer of East Palestine; and four grandchildren, Adam Custer of Colorado, Nora (Norbert) Haberbusch of Akron, Matthew Custer of Burlington, VT, and Daniel (Mamie) Custer of Seattle, WA.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Terry Brown officiating. Burial will follow in New Waterford Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
