East Palestine - Scott W. Burns, age 76, of East Palestine, died on Friday, January 23, 2026, at his home in East Palestine.
He was born on March 20, 1949, in Youngstown, son of the late Robert and M. Patricia George Burns.
As a man, he was one of the hardest workers you would ever meet, and he had a passion for golfing, bowling, the stock market and his precious lawn. He did 30 and out as an autoworker at the General Motors Lordstown plant, and he continued working in the Good Sports embroidery business with his wife and on the grounds at the Lake Club.
As a husband, he was a man of few words who loved his wife with all his heart and soul. He was incredibly handy and could fix anything, from complex embroidery machines to common household repairs.
As a father, he taught us life lessons and was one of our biggest fans in anything we attempted to do in life.
Scott is survived by his wife, Becky Lynn Riley Burns, whom he married on June 2, 1979; son, Robert "Scooter" W. Burns of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter, Margaret "Liz" (Chad) Burns-Parson of Missoula, MT; brother, Robert Burns; two sisters, Kathy (Lee) Dyke and Sally (Tom Moody) Burns and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Burns-Fenske.
A private family service will be held.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
