A past member of the Gamma Eta Sorority, she served as president and held a variety of chairmanships. In 1964 and 1965 she received the "Pallas Athena", a national award, as educational director. Sarah had worked many years on the election board and had also been a volunteer at Salem Regional Medical Center.

She will be missed by her two loving daughters and their families, Connie (Bill) Ward of Salem and Rhonda Crowell of Leetonia.
