East Palestine, OH-Samuel "Jack" Norton, IV, 69, died suddenly Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Mr. Norton was born August 24, 1943 in Salem, a son of Samuel Jack and Esther Barnhouse Norton III and had lived in this area most of his life.
Jack was a dispatcher and collector for Valley Industrial Truck in Youngstown for 15 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Waterford. Jack served in the US Navy during Vietnam. He had also been a former member of Benjamin Firestone #290 American Legion in Columbiana and the Edward L. McGuckin Post #4579 VFW.
He is survived by his wife, the former Judith A. Hill, whom he married June 9, 1968; a daughter, Jennifer Conners of Louisville; two sons, Samuel Jack (Traci) Norton V of Grant, AL and Jason (Lynn) Norton of Beaufort, SC; two sisters, Norma (Richard) Torrence of East Palestine and Carol (Robert) Price of Girard; and seven grandchildren, Chelsea Conners, Taylor Conners, R.C. Conners, Nicole (Nikki) Norton, Amber Norton, Gregory Waterbeck and Aaron Norton.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Faulk and his son-in-law, Bob Conners.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Reverend Donald Pentz officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 pm Friday at the funeral home.
Contributions in Jack's memory may be made to the Salvation Army.
