Ruthie Roose

Columbiana-Ruthie Roose, 75, formerly of Leetonia, passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center. Mrs. Roose was born July 13, 1940 in Leetonia, a daughter of the late William and Ann Eagleton Beiling and had lived in this area all of her life.

Ruthie was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leetonia where she was active in the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Ruthie was also the treasurer of Judes Dudes at St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana. She was a founding member of the Leetonia Park and Recreation Board and was the Park Commissioner at one time. Ruthie was also the originator of the Leetonia Artisan's Festival and a member of the Tops Club in Columbiana.

Her husband, John W. Roose, whom she married April 29, 1962, died August 31, 1995.

She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Roose of Columbiana; two sons, Doug Roose of Columbiana and Carl (Lynn) Roose of Bath; a brother, William (Barbara) Beiling of Stow; four grandchildren, Eric, Kaylyn, Jacob and Connor Roose; and her companion, Paul Leverknight of Salem.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Beiling.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leetonia, with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 10-11am Wednesday at the church.

Material tributes in memory of Ruthie may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church to establish an elevator fund.
